For a Las Vegas machinery move, involve the equipment owner and qualified handlers early. A custom crate can provide an appropriate base, restraints and enclosure, but the entire move still needs a coordinated loading and receiving plan.

Gather the machinery specifications

Provide manufacturer drawings or instructions where available, along with dimensions, weight and transport orientation. Identify fragile attachments, removable parts and any preparation that must be completed by a technician.

Do not estimate lifting points from the machine’s appearance. Ask the equipment specialist to identify approved support and lifting arrangements. If the weight or center of gravity is uncertain, resolve that before the crate and handling method are finalized.

Design the base and restraints together

A heavy machine needs a support system that accounts for how its load is transferred into the crate base. The enclosure alone should not be treated as the primary support or restraint.

Discuss blocking, attachment points and protection for sensitive components with the provider. Cushioning or vibration-isolation features must suit the actual load and equipment requirements. Avoid assuming that more foam, heavier panels or a treatment stamp establishes adequate protection.

Coordinate palletized handling and site access

A palletized base can support mechanical handling when it is designed for the load and compatible with the intended equipment. Forklift access does not imply suitability for crane lifting or for every forklift available at a site.

  1. Confirm packed weight and external dimensions.
  2. Verify access routes and loading areas at both ends.
  3. Have qualified handlers select the lifting and unloading equipment.
  4. Agree on the intended lifting points and movement sequence.
  5. Provide handling instructions with the shipment records.

Carrier guidance, such as FedEx’s freight packaging information, illustrates why the complete packaged load and handling conditions matter. Confirm the rules of the carrier actually used for the shipment.

Check export requirements separately

For an international move, determine whether the wood packaging needs ISPM 15 treatment and marking. That standard addresses plant-health risks associated with the packaging; it does not certify the machine, its structural restraints or all import documentation.

Ask the forwarder and equipment owner to identify any separate requirements related to the machine or its contents. Establish who prepares those documents and avoid scheduling around a promise of automatic customs clearance.

Plan repairs and repeat use

A reusable equipment crate may be appropriate when the same machine or configuration travels again. Inspect the base, closures and restraints before each trip and retain the packing plan.

Changes in equipment weight, attachments or layout can require reassessment. Include return freight, storage and repairs when comparing the cost of reuse. Specific environmental benefits should be based on actual material recovery and completed trips.

PLAN YOUR CRATING

Discuss a heavy-equipment crate

Contact Crates of Las Vegas with the machinery specifications, photographs, manufacturer instructions and proposed route. Ask the team to confirm the crating scope and coordinate the specialist preparation and handling work separately.
