Custom Wood Crates for Fragile Cargo and Secure Shipping
Fragile cargo needs packaging designed around its weak points, not simply a strong-looking outer box. A custom wood crate can provide an enclosure and a planned support arrangement for artwork, delicate equipment and other items that need individual attention.

Secure shipping also depends on preparation, handling and receiving. The useful question is how those parts work together to reduce specific risks, without treating any crate as a guarantee against damage.
Identify what makes the cargo fragile
Begin with an item assessment. Fragility may involve a thin projection, a sensitive finish, glass, a loose internal component or a restriction on orientation. Give the builder accurate dimensions and weight, photographs, and any manufacturer or conservation guidance.
Explain what has already been disassembled and who is authorized to remove anything else. For equipment, ask the manufacturer about transport preparation. For valuable art, involve a qualified specialist when the surface or structure requires handling beyond ordinary packing.

Fit the protection to the shape and load
An irregular item may need support in a few carefully chosen places rather than uniform pressure around every surface. Ask where loads will be carried and which areas must remain free of contact. The design should account for the protective materials as well as the object's measurements.
FedEx's freight packaging guide distinguishes blocking and bracing from cushioning. Review those functions with the builder so the interior is selected for the cargo rather than filled with a generic packing material.
Separate handling protection from environmental control
A crate can be specified with different enclosures and interior materials, but it should not be assumed to be waterproof, airtight or climate-controlled. If the item has moisture or temperature limits, provide them before the design and transport service are agreed.
Ask about exposure during loading, intermediate storage and unloading, not only the main vehicle journey. Sensitive cargo may need a separately specified storage or transport service. Request a clear explanation of what the proposed packaging does and which environmental risks remain outside its scope.

Coordinate collection and delivery in Las Vegas
Commercial receiving areas, residential locations and event venues can have very different access arrangements. Confirm who will pack, load, transport, unload and unpack the item. A shipping label should match the location and receiving contact in the booking.
- Provide access restrictions, appointment requirements and the available loading equipment.
- Confirm the packed size and weight before finalizing the carrier service.
- Tell the receiver whether specialist handling or unpacking assistance is needed.
- Keep photographs of the item and the completed packing arrangement.
- Review the carrier's inspection, damage-reporting and coverage terms before shipping.
Package design, transport service and coverage are separate decisions. Do not assume the existence of a crate establishes the value covered by a carrier or insurer.
Plan responsible reuse and disposal
If the crate is intended for another trip, keep its supports and closures together and retain the packing instructions. Arrange an inspection after use and before assigning it to another shipment. A crate designed around one fragile item should not automatically be reused for a heavier or differently shaped load.
For end-of-use planning, ask the receiving location which wood, foam and other components it can accept for recovery. Request documentation for any claimed recycled content or certified timber sourcing. Environmental benefits should be supported by the actual materials and reuse plan.

PLAN YOUR CRATING
Arrange a fragile-cargo crating review
Contact Crates of Las Vegas with photographs, dimensions, weight and the destination. Explain the item's fragile areas and any handling or environmental requirements so the team can review the project and clarify what the quoted packaging will include.
