SECURE TRANSPORT PLANNING
Custom Crating and Secure Transport Planning in Las Vegas
Protecting a valuable shipment takes more than an outer box. Custom crating can support the item and help protect vulnerable areas, while the transport plan determines who handles it, where it waits, and how it reaches the receiving team.

For a Las Vegas business or household, the goal is to connect those decisions. Start with the cargo and carry the plan through collection, transfers, delivery, and unpacking.
Match the Crate to the Cargo and Its Handling Needs
A display, a sculpture, a piece of machinery, and a medical device need different assessments. Record dimensions and weight, identify vulnerable surfaces and projecting parts, and obtain any manufacturer or specialist handling instructions.
Ask the crate builder how the item will be supported, restrained, and removed from the package. Discuss the equipment and space available at collection and delivery. The finished crate must be practical for the agreed handling method as well as suited to the contents.
- Identify the cargo and any separately packed components.
- Explain restrictions on support, orientation, or surface contact.
- Confirm the full packed dimensions and weight.
- Record who prepares the item before packing begins.

Plan for Environmental Exposure Along the Route
For temperature-sensitive items, review the conditions the shipment may encounter while being loaded, transported, transferred, or stored. A locally collected shipment can still spend time in vehicles, warehouses, or outdoor handling areas before it reaches its destination.
Ask the appropriate specialist to define any environmental limits and the packaging or transport measures needed to meet them. Wood panels alone do not actively control temperature or humidity. If barriers, insulation, or a controlled transport service are required, have those arrangements specified rather than assumed.
Build a Clear Custody and Security Plan
Closures and tamper-evident measures may support shipment security, but they have limits. Discuss who is authorized to open the package, what should happen at each handoff, and how unexpected damage or interference will be reported.
Use an inventory, condition photographs, and contact details that the responsible parties can access. Confirm the carrier and receiving appointment, and check applicable insurance and liability terms. A crate is part of the physical protection plan; it does not establish coverage or remove the need for secure handling.

Assign Shipping-Compliance Responsibilities
For international routes, establish whether the wood packaging needs ISPM 15 treatment and marking. The APHIS overview explains this plant-health requirement.
Review the actual cargo and route with the carrier or relevant specialist. Equipment containing batteries, fluids, or other regulated contents may need separate assessment. Do not infer that a custom wooden crate makes the contents acceptable for every service or destination.
Agree on who prepares the documentation, who checks carrier requirements, and who can respond if a shipment is delayed. These responsibilities should remain clear even when several companies are involved.
Consider Total Cost and the Receiving Plan
Appropriate packing can help manage damage risk, but savings depend on the shipment. Compare fabrication, interior protection, packing labor, handling, transport, and any return or storage costs. Choose protection around the item's needs rather than relying on a universal claim that custom crating always costs less.
Plan the final handoff before dispatch. Tell the destination team how the crate opens, what equipment is needed, and whether a specialist must inspect or recommission the contents. Document the package's condition and follow the agreed process if anything appears wrong.
